Foreword
ISO (the International Organization for Standardization) is a worldwide federation of national standards bodies (ISO member bodies). The work of preparing International Standards is normally carried out through ISO technical committees. Each member body interested in a subject for which a technical committee has been established has the right to be represented on that committee. International organizations, governmental and non-governmental, in liaison with ISO, also take part in the work. ISO collaborates closely with the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) on all matters of electrotechnical standardization.
The procedures used to develop this document and those intended for its further maintenance are described in the ISO/IEC Directives, Part 1. In particular, the different approval criteria needed for the different types of ISO documents should be noted. This document was drafted in accordance with the editorial rules of the ISO/IEC Directives, Part 2 (see www.iso.org/directives).
ISO draws attention to the possibility that the implementation of this document may involve the use of (a) patent(s). ISO takes no position concerning the evidence, validity or applicability of any claimed patent rights in respect thereof. As of the date of publication of this document, ISO [had/had not] received notice of (a) patent(s) which may be required to implement this document. However, implementers are cautioned that this may not represent the latest information, which may be obtained from the patent database available at www.iso.org/patents. ISO shall not be held responsible for identifying any or all such patent rights.
Any trade name used in this document is information given for the convenience of users and does not constitute an endorsement.
For an explanation of the voluntary nature of standards, the meaning of ISO specific terms and expressions related to conformity assessment, as well as information about ISO's adherence to the World Trade Organization (WTO) principles in the Technical Barriers to Trade (TBT), see www.iso.org/iso/foreword.html.
This document was prepared by Technical Committee ISO/TC 292, Security and resilience. This first edition cancels and replaces IWA 14-1:2013, which has been technically revised. The main changes are as follows:
— this document has been brought into line with modern technology and practices;
— all figures have been reviewed and surface-placed barriers have been explicitly identified;
— additional reporting of furthest part of vehicle beyond vehicle security barrier datum;
— there has been a general review of all text and structure to provide clarification to test houses and other interested parties.
This Amendment has been issued to clarify the types of cab permitted for each vehicle category and to introduce a cab adjustment factor to normalize the test result based on the cab type used.
A list of all parts in the ISO 22343 series can be found on the ISO website.
Any feedback or questions on this document should be directed to the user’s national standards body. A complete listing of these bodies can be found at www.iso.org/members.html.
Security and resilience — Vehicle security barriers — Part 1: Performance requirement, vehicle impact test method and performance rating — Amendment 1
3.3.4
Replace the text with the following:
3.3.4
day cab
two door driver compartment of a Large Goods Vehicle (LGV) that does not include overnight facilities
3.3.5
Add a new definition in position 3.3.5, with the following text:
3.3.5
sleeper cab
two door compartment of a Large Goods Vehicle (LGV) for driver and passenger which includes a space for overnight rest behind the driver’s seat. A cab with a length greater than 2,2 m but less than 2.4m will be classed as a sleeper cab even if it has provision for storage rather than a rest area.
Note 1 to entry: Vehicles with a cab length greater than 2.4m should not be used.
3.3.5
Change number of term 3.3.5 unladen mass, to:
3.3.6
unladen mass
3.3.7
Add the following term and definition:
3.3.7
cab length
measurement taken from front leading edge of vehicle bumper to rear structure of vehicle cab
Note 1 to entry: Cab length is used to clarify cab type only.
3.4.1
Replace Note 1 to entry with the following subclauses to 3.4.1:
3.4.1.1 For a car (M1) or 4x4 crew cab pick-up (N1G) vehicle [see Figure 2 a) and Figure 2 b)], a reference line passing through the centre of the A-pillars, at the lowest point of the windscreen.
3.4.1.2 For N1 [see Figure 2 c), a reference line intersecting the lower load bed leading edge and the vehicle chassis rail.
3.4.1.3 For N2 or N3 vehicles Figure 2 d) and Figure 2 e)],], a reference line intersecting the lower load bed leading edge and the vehicle chassis rail.
Note 1 to entry: If a sleeper cab vehicle has been used, then an adjustment value of 0.4m shall be added to the measured penetration distance value.
3.4.1
Replace figure d) with figure d1) and d2) as follows:
d1) Large goods vehicle (LGV) day cab N2A, N3C, N3D, N3F and N3G | d2) Large goods vehicle (LGV) sleeper cab N2A, N3C, N3D, N3F and N3G |
6.1.1
Add a second paragraph:
Crew cab vehicles shall be used for vehicle N1G, day cab vehicles shall be used for vehicle N1. Crew cab vehicles are not permitted for any other category of vehicle. Day or sleeper cabs may be used for N2, and N3 vehicles (see 3.4.1.3) The type of cab with which the vehicle is equipped (see 3.3.3, 3.3.4, 3.3.5) shall be clearly stated in the report (see 6.8.1 k).

a The types of vehicle are illustrated in Table 2. Not all vehicles illustrated will be available in all markets. b Where instrumentation is used, it forms part of the secured ballast (see 6.5.4.1). c When an anthropomorphic dummy (ATD) is used in the test, it shall be 75 kg and shall be installed and fastened by a seat belt. The ATD mass shall not contribute to the test vehicle mass; therefore, the ATD shall be added after the test vehicle mass has been set within tolerance. d Tolerances for mass are quoted for practicality. The test vehicle mass should be as close as is practicable to the nominal value. e Including an attached load bed. f Not including mirrors. g Length between the extreme axles. h Rear-wheel drive. I Bulk carrier vehicles (N3E, N3F and N3G) should be loaded with unsecured ballast (sand/soil) to meet the test vehicle mass (see 6.5.4.2). j Users of this document should refer to ASTM 2656 to ensure compatibility. | ||||||||||
