Background and rationale for this European Standard
5 General conditions for tests
Add the following at the end of Clause 5:
“This document sets the testing conditions for products using USB connectors. As USB-C protocols allow a supply of 5V, 9V, 15V and 20V, it is necessary to ensure that the toy is tested with the relevant rated voltage supported by USB connectors within the limit of 24V set by this standard for rated voltage.”
7 Markings and Instructions
Replace the 5th paragraph with the following:
“There are requirements for the marking of replaceable and separable batteries for electric toys, transformers for electric toys and replaceable bulbs to reduce the possibility of the user employing such components with an incorrect specification.”
9. Heating and abnormal operation
In the 10th paragraph starting with “9.8 in intended to …” delete “such as EN 62368” in the last sentence.
Add the following paragraph after the 10th paragraph:
“As the test with a 42 V supply often led to the products breaking down quickly, further test conditions have been added to test the abnormal operation with more realistic voltages of either 130% or 150% of the rated voltage of the electric toy in line with EN IEC 62368-1:2024.”

“The risk of damaging a mains socket outlet is reduced by ensuring the electric toys may not operate while in charge unless its mobility does not lead to enough tension force to damage the mains socket outlet or the cord.

Relationship between this European Standard and the essential requirements of Directive 2009/48/EC (OJ L 170, 30.6.2009, p.1) aimed to be covered
This European standard has been prepared under a Commission’s standardisation request M/589 (C(2022) 7410 final) to provide one voluntary means of conforming to essential requirements of Directive (EC) No 2009/48/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council of 18 June 2009 on the safety of toys (OJ L 170, 30.6.2009, p.1).
Once this standard is cited in the Official Journal of the European Union under that Directive compliance with the normative clauses of this standard given in Table ZZ.1 confers, within the limits of the scope of this standard, a presumption of conformity with the corresponding essential requirements of that Directive, and associated EFTA regulations.
